GL: In your video Chicken’s dance, we look at chicken being roasted in a supermarket. We can recognize the site thanks to the sound atmosphere we identify immediately. Can you tell us more about this moment, a common daily life scene you decided to record ?
MLB: I was very amused by this scene, as there is something very iconic in a roasted chicken… It’s almost already turned into an object in our collective memory.
We look at it rotating, almost tanning under some kind of artificial UV. It all happens in a daily cycle: the supermarket employee puts them under the lights at 9h A.M, at 11h30 A.M he takes them out, cut them… At 12h, other workers arrive to pick them up, at 2 P.M the oven is spotless, brand new, waiting for the next day..
The addition of the sound environment of supermarket helps bridge the gap between these two eras.
